
Lost Worlds Trail Series/Causeway Crossing Route Overview
Race day , Saturday – May 4th, 2013
The 100k starts in Glenarm on the eastern coast of Ireland. It heads north and west past the halfway point of Ballintoy, where it stays along the northern coast and past the Giant’s Causeway. It goes past Dunseverick Castle through the Giant’s Causeway and onto Dunluce Castle weaving between a cliffside coastal trail and rocky promontories and beaches. Runners then turn back east to the finish line in Ballintoy.
Start/Finish
100k – Starts in Glenarm at 06:00
50k – Starts at Ballintoy at 12:00
100k relay (team of 2) – Starts in Glenarm at 06:00. 2nd runner leaves from Ballintoy.
Team Trek 50k (team of 4)- Start in Glenarm at 03:00. Finish in Ballintoy
All races finish in Ballintoy.
Drop Bags -100k racers can leave drop bags in Ballintoy (50k point)
Cut-off - There is only one time cut-off for the 100k distance:
You must reach the midway point at 50k (Ballintoy) in 8 hours. If a racer fails to make this cut-off means individuals and relay teams will be stopped at Ballintoy at 50k and no longer allowed to continue officially. 10 hours for trekking teams. Cut-off times will be strictly enforced.

Check Point Support: aid station/water station placed approximately every 20k Check points are positioned approximately every 20 kilometers along the course. Runners are required to check in with the check point marshal and to ‘dib’ their electronic timing tag in a control box. Each check point will also be a hydration station and will offer water and energy foods.
Transition Bags/Drop Bags: Solo participants are welcome to leave drop bag/kit bag with them in Ballintoy or leave with officials at race start. This bag will then be taken by Lost Worlds Racing to midway point at Ballintoy where it can be accessed as a transition bag. Please make sure that the bag is a sensible size, rugged and has your name clearly marked on it.

• Timing of competitors via a SportIdent timing system competitors will have to place an electronic punch in a small box at feed stations in order to record their split times and at the finish line to record their overall time. Full printout then available of times once they cross the finish line. All times are also uploaded to a website where each competitor can compare their times with all other competitors in the event
